Check Insulin for your dog
Enter your dog's details for a straight answer sized to them.
Why Insulin is dangerous
Too much insulin can drive blood sugar dangerously low, depriving the brain of glucose. Effects vary by insulin type and can recur or persist for many hours.
Bring the insulin pen or vial and syringe. Report the product name, concentration, estimated units, injection time, recent meal, and your dog's weight.
Any suspected extra injection, wrong concentration, or accidental administration needs immediate veterinary direction. The insulin name, units, concentration, and time are essential.
Can I treat this at home?
If your dog is conscious and able to swallow, call an emergency veterinarian immediately for instructions. Never force food or liquid into a weak, seizing, or unconscious dog.
When should I call the vet?
This is an emergency: call an emergency veterinarian now after any suspected insulin overdose or wrong-dose injection.
