Privacy at DogSafe
Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser technologies used on DogSafe, what they do, and how you can control them.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. DogSafe and its service providers may also use local storage, pixels, tags, and similar technologies. We use “cookies” below as a convenient collective term unless a distinction matters.
Essential storage
Essential storage is required for security and features you request. It cannot be disabled through our preference panel because the site may not work correctly without it. Your browser can still block it.
- DogSafe anonymous ID: a signed, secure identifier used to retrieve anonymous DogSafe Pro status and saved dog profiles. It may last up to approximately 400 days unless you delete it.
- Authentication cookies: secure Auth.js session, verification, anti-forgery, and return-path cookies used for passwordless sign-in. Lifetimes vary by purpose; a signed-in session can last up to 30 days.
- Local preferences: browser storage for your active dog profile and privacy selection. These stay on the device until replaced or removed.
- Stripe: essential fraud-prevention and checkout technologies may be used when you open Stripe’s hosted payment or billing pages.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 loads only after you allow analytics in DogSafe’s privacy choices. It may set cookies such as _ga and similarly prefixed identifiers to distinguish visits and understand page usage. Google controls exact names and expiration periods, which can change. DogSafe also uses Vercel’s privacy-focused web analytics and operational logs to understand aggregate traffic, performance, and reliability.
Advertising
Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies, pixels, local storage, IP addresses, or device identifiers to serve and measure ads, limit repetition, personalize ads where permitted, and prevent fraud. Exact technologies vary by browser, location, and advertising partner.
Where required, Google’s certified consent-management message asks for advertising choices and communicates them to participating vendors. You can also manage personalized ads in Google My Ad Center.
Manage your choices
Use to allow or refuse Google Analytics. Choosing “Necessary only” keeps Google Analytics off. You can change this selection at any time. Advertising consent, where required, is managed through Google’s separate certified message.
Browser controls can also block or delete cookies and site data. Doing so may sign you out, remove saved preferences, or prevent account and dog-profile features from working. For more information about how we handle personal information, read the Privacy Policy.
