Choose a dog-run surface by how the space drains, how it will be cleaned and how your dog moves through it. There is no surface that is automatically cool, chew-proof and maintenance-free. Plan the enclosure and supervision first, then evaluate a sample of the proposed surface under real conditions.
Define what the run is for

Ask for the drainage detail
A finished surface is only the visible part of an installation. Ask the installer to explain the underlying layers, the route for water and how waste or cleaning runoff will be handled. Check local requirements and avoid directing dirty water into a neighbor's property or an unsuitable drain.
Obtain the maintenance instructions before accepting a quote. If the system requires specialist equipment, proprietary cleaner or regular lifting of sections, include those commitments in the decision. A low purchase price is not necessarily a low-maintenance arrangement.
