Why Homemade Play-Doh / Salt Dough is dangerous
Homemade play dough and salt-dough ornaments pack a large amount of salt into a small, dog-appealing package. Pet Poison Helpline reports this has caused fatal salt toxicity (hypernatremia), where the excess sodium pulls water out of brain cells.
Signs to watch for
Vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, lethargy, wobbliness, excessive thirst or urination; in severe cases tremors, seizures, or coma
What to do next
Don't induce vomiting on your own. Call your vet or Pet Poison Helpline immediately and keep water available while you get guidance.
